On selling endowments

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Many people I know are panicking over the economic slump. So many of them are looking for ways to be able to secure their future. And I must admit that I am one of them. The state of our economy now is a far cry from the economy of years ago. I fear that one day I will wake up with no job like others hit by countless recessions that happened. Scary times indeed.

A friend of mine, being the practical person that she is, are already getting more jobs than she can handle. Aside from her 8-4 daily job, she also took on consultancies with two companies and have opened an online shop she tends to during weekends. She has three kids so I can understand her need to save money and secure it for her kids’ future. She is also a single mom so unlike most married couples, she has to double her efforts to make ends meet for the four of them. I actually admire her and look up to her when it comes to handling finances.

So it is no surprise when she told me that she found a Sell Endowments site and is thinking of doing just that, sell her endowment. EndowmentExpress.co.uk according to her, promises to give more than 35% of the normal surrender value being offered by other companies. And she would like to take advantage of it. It got me thinking and I am looking into it now.

A duplicate and similar image finder

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I have a large collection of personal and commercial photos in my laptop. I keep it all in a folder and have created sub-folders to categorize every single photo I upload in my laptop. But there are instances that I forgot what I had uploaded and will upload photos once again. Hoping that sooner or later I will see a duplicate image.

Being busy, I oftentimes just let duplicates be there and plans to sort it out sooner or later. Which never happens. But I think I have found the right solution to my ever growing photo collection and my problem of uploading photos twice to different folders. Bolidesoft.com has a duplicate image finder that can help me sort out my photos and find duplicates in it.

If you are interested, you can go visit Bolidesoft.com now and know more about this amazing tool that me and other photo collectors out there.

Stop smoking!

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I really want my uncle to stop smoking. He always comes with us when we go out of town. He drives for us every now and then and we truly care for him. He is a heavy smoker. And he does not care even if we are in front of him. He just smokes away whenever the need strikes him.

What is bothering me most is that, his cough does not let up. Even if he drinks medicine and have checked himself into a hospital for an executive check up, the cough won’t let up. The doctors told him that it is caused by too much smoking and he will eventually suffer for it. But knowing how stubborn he is, he will just continue with his old habit no matter what.

I started looking for something other than the usual nicotine addiction medicines that can be found everywhere. I know that for some people, a nicotine patch works. For some, a nicotine gum works just fine. For some, plain abstinence from smoking, albeit done hard, is the best solution.

But I found Champix and this medicine stops smoking more than any other medicine there is at the moment. If you want to know more about this medicine, then go to DoctorChemist.co.uk now!

A prominent martial artist

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Have you heard about Tae Yun Kim? I have researched something abut her and have found Tae Yun Kim - Wikipedia. This lady is pretty amazing!

She was born in February 2, 1946 in South Korea. She is the eldest and being a girl, she was seen as a family curse. This is the common superstition in some Asian countries before. But being the courageous lady that she is, she did everything to prove her family wrong. She is not a curse. She actually became “The Highest Ranking Females Martial Artist in the World”! Imagine that!

She is a prominent martial artist and spiritual group leader in Silicon Valley, California and chairman of Lighthouse WorldWide Solutions, and a number of other companies. She married a guy named Mark Fontaine. They immigrated to the United States. So many things happened to her life. Some of which are the following:

  • Kim divorced her first husband of approximately 20 years in the late 1980’s.
  • Kim changed her name to Tae Yun, and her school’s name to Jung SuWon, in approximately 1990.
  • Converted to Mormon in the early 90’s.
  • Kim married a wealthy Utah business man’s son, it was subsequently annulled in a court action.

Blog money

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Similar to other bloggers out there, I did not start a blog to get paid for it. It all started as a medium for me to communicate with friends abroad. You see, I have a number of friends working in different parts of the world. The rest of us who are left here meet once in a while and when there is a gathering or an event or a simple get-together, I immediately post it to update those who are abroad. It is my way of broadcasting our greetings to everyone. And it is our way of interacting in one place where we can see the run of the conversation.

But then I lost my job middle of last year. Because I had nothing else to do in between looking for jobs, I blogged. I learned that there are programs that helps bloggers get paid for blogging. Smorty is that kind of service. Bloggers get blog money out of writing down their opinions for different products and services. So if you want to get paid for blogging, then join Smorty now!
