Food Network Takes Emeril Down a Notch

Friday, November 30th, 2007

On December 11, mere weeks before the country plunges again into culinary excess, the Food Network will pull the plug on one of its longest-running cooking shows. “Emeril Live!” is going off the air.

As soon as news of this slight to Cajun cuisine hit the Web, buzz for celebri-chef Emeril Lagasse blew a scorching path upwards. Demand for his name surged nearly 900%. Interest in his recipes boiled over. Queries for “emeril cancelled” caught on fire. Bam!

Both the Food Network and the New Orleans power cook say their relationship hasn’t soured. Emeril remains firmly in position at the helm of his other show, “The Essence of Emeril.” Yet, we have to wonder: Has the TV chef’s popularity gone stale with the cable channel’s viewers?

We can’t answer that question. But we do know how the Food Network’s gastro-hosts stacked up in Buzz last week. And Emeril didn’t do so badly. In the studio kitchen, as in pretty much every other venue, the pretty ladies turn the most heads. The fact that Emeril kicked it up a notch above va-va-voom Giada is a tribute to his draw…

A gift idea

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

I have many male cousins and friends. I am sure girls out there have also noticed how hard it is sometimes to buy a gift for a guy. I rarely give clothes, that’s for sure. And when I gave a perfume last Christmas, I will not give another one this Christmas. It just seems so redundant and unimaginative.

So I am still searching for gift ideas right now and I came across motorcycles for sale at mfors.com, a free classified advertising site. I found some really cool motorcycles as well as motorbikes for sale.

Mfors.com is a website dedicated to FREE classified advertising. Adverts can be uploaded directly to the site and can be as many as 6 pictures of the product being sold. Advertisers still need to register, of course. But again, everything is free! Advertisers will be emailed regarding their advert and email addresses will not be shown to avoid spamming. There is a question and answer facility for each advert. This is a good tool to facilitate easy and convenient transactions.

Go and check out mfors.com now and see what motorcycles, motorbikes or quad bikes for sale you can find. Give your male relative or friend something you will find in this site for Christmas.

A community-sponsored online home school academy

K-12Education is the key to solving poverty. I heard or read that somewhere. Being educated is something most people do everything they can to achieve. Some people work to be able to fund their schooling. Some get student loans. Even some ask help from relatives.

What will you say if I tell you there is a tuition-free course that you can avail of? You will surely doubt what I am saying, right? But hey, it’s true. K-12 Free Homeschool is offering tuition-free core curriculum courses for everyone! Yes, they are. It’s FREE! Here’s how it can be tuition-free. There are sponsors, donors from corporations, other parents and non-profit organizations. Still not convinced? Maybe you are looking for the catch. There’s none. It is really free. K-12 Free Home School will ask you to respond to questions, surveys and offers from corporate sponsors. And they will ask for a minimal fee of $4.95 to cover some of the labor and expenses associated with Registration, Shipping, Handling and Processing. Very minimal and I would like to think not burdensome compared to producing hundreds of dollars for tuition fees, right?

Browse the K-12FreeHomeschool.org Course Catalog. Find something that will be of interest to you. And then apply immediately as there are others like you who are hoping to avail of the tuition-free courses.

For more information, log on to K-12 Free Home School now.

Donate a car, help children

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

Do a good deed and you will be guaranteed something good in return. I believe in that. Some call that karma. It maybe is. Personally, if I can just do something for others, I will do it, without thinking of getting anything in return. It is something that I believe should be the norm when doing a good deed. It should always be unconditional.

Car Angel’s Donate a Car is a charitable project aimed to benefit children. And when you will talk about kids to me, my heart just melts. I have a soft spot for kids, especially for those underprivileged and those from third world countries. You see, I came from a third world country. I may not be underprivileged but I saw one too many in this country already. So if I can do something to contribute to this project, I will surely do it. And I am starting with this campaign. I will do my part by asking you people to donate your second hand cars. Car Donations can do a big difference in a lot of children’s lives. Free Children’s DVDs can be distributed to children lacking educational materials to help them learn more. Other children’s causes will be given funds from the proceeds of donated cars sold.

Okay, so how does this work, you’d ask.

All you need to do is find it in your heart to let go of an old car, one that you are not using anymore, or that one you are thinking of replacing already. And then when you have decided to donate it, call Car Angel. They will send a representative or maybe a group of individuals to get the car. They will issue you a receipt right away. This receipt is what you can use to claim a tax deduction come tax filing period.

See, there is even a benefit for you should you decide to donate.

I suggest you check out CarAngel.com and see how they will use the funds from the proceeds of donated cars sold. And maybe, you will be convinced to let go of that car you rarely use.

Online dating for singles

How do you find a date for a Friday night after work party? Hmm… there are a lot of ways. You can ask someone from the office. You can ask a friend to tag someone along for you. You can ask your guy friend to be your date. You can do all this and might get a date out of it. But what if, like me, every straight guy you know is already taken? What then will you do? Will you just wait to meet another single guy. But where and how will you meet one? I suggest you go and find a date at an Online Dating Site.

Date.com is a site created for Dating and Singles. It already benefited millions of people from around the world.

I know a lot of people who are skeptical when it comes to online relationships. But let me tell you a story that all started with a chat session one rainy boring night at the office.

This co-worker of mine loves to chat. Since we come in at night, a 7pm schedule onwards, 5 days a month, she makes use of the time there are no bosses around. She chats until the sun comes up. She enjoys meeting a lot of single guys from around the world, regardless of race, as long as she finds the guy interesting and witty. One boring night, when we had nothing to do, she met an Irish guy and they chatted for hours. When they were not contented with chatting, they continued talking over the phone. It was really a classic case of love bug. I believe they were both bitten that night. They became “online steady dates”. They would meet every night, chat for hours on end. And do you know what? They guy visited her here in the country. He stayed for two weeks and he went and made sure he met the whole family. They went on a 3 day vacation somewhere in the south and they knew that they are really meant to be together.

About a month after, the guy proposed marriage, exactly six months after they met online. Some of you will probably call it a whirlwind romance. I say it is love defying distance and race. They got married exactly a year after they met. It was a church wedding akin to a fairy tale. They are now five years married and living happily with two kids. Who would’ve thought, right?

So I suggest you go and join Date.com now. It’s FREE! You never know where and when you will your prince charming. It could be at Date.com now.
